CPanel Web Hosting Crucial Information About Transferring

You may have heard the horror stories about switching web hosting companies or maybe even been through one yourself. That is the reason I have laid-out the following steps in this article, anyone who listens can avoid their own potential horror story.

The three (3) major reasons that people leave their hosting company is because 1)You got terrible customer service; 2)The host uses a platform that does not support the programs you want to start using; or 3)You don't get your technical problems solved quickly with their horrible customer support.

If you have a hosted website right now and want to change to a new host, let me tell you how to make a smooth transfer. I want to keep you smiling during the 'could be painful move if done wrong.'

The first step, a real must-do, make sure that you back-up everything that you want to have with new company. If you already back your stuff up regularly, then make certain that it is current.

Make sure you have everything from the index page to the files.

Second, double check that your new host will be able to handle your software and services.

Third, load your information to the location where the new hosting company told you. No, don't load the information to the URL (you'll find out why in a sec...), instead upload your information to the IP address of the FTP location that they gave you.

Then, go to the company where you registered your domain. If you don't know who that is, find the email you received after you bought the domain - that company is called the registrar. They will have information you need to make changes to your DNS. The DNS is the Domain Name Server and it determines where your domain directs people.

Now just because you have an account with the new hosting company and you upload the information to the account that they set-up for you, does not mean that your domain to connected to the new host. Not until you change the DNS, that is.

If you can't find the DNS information at whois.sc, just put your domain name in the search bar and it will pull up the information that you will need to figure out where your domain is registered, and where your name servers are currently pointed.

This is very crucial information - Don't forget this part!

Before you change the DNS, make sure that you double check the site at the location where you uploaded it. Usually you can do this by going to the new IP address. Or just email the new host's support team and ask them how to view your information you just uploaded. After this check, change the DNS. If everything goes well you are done. If for some reason it does not appear correctly, you can fix it (or you always can switch the DNS back to the former location).

When everything is correct, say good-bye to your old hosting provider.

If you are ready to change hosting companies and don't know where to turn, here is what you should look for.

First, make sure that they provide you great customer service. Don't go out and look for the cheapest one you can find. Let me tell you, this will end-up being more problems then you can ever imagine. Find a hosting company that understands marketing, whether it is web marketing or email marketing. Make sure that they give you your own IP address. Because an IP address will help you with search engine optimization and also email marketing.

I also recommend that you find a hosting company that has Cpanel. This is a great control panel and very easy to use.

The hosting company that I use and recommend to my personal friends and clients is called Frontier Power Hosting.

There are many other great companies out there; this is not the only one. Just the only one that I use and therefore the only one that I recommend.

Follow these steps to switch your web hosting company quickly, efficiently and painlessly.
